Objectives: Due to an event in the United States in recent years, the place of myomectomy, particularly when morsellation is involved has been severely questioned .The incidence of malignant change in myomas has been quoted to be as high as 1:380 and this has been the yardstick used to warn many a gynecologist off the removal of what otherwise was thought to be a benign tumour.

Various national and international societies have drawn guidelines to help the practising clinician make educated decisions as to managing what had previously been considered a benign disease.

This workshop brings together international experts to discuss this current challenge and hopefully help the attendants steer their way through the muddle that has arisen over recent times.
